DEATH TO 168/

One of my fave shopping hotspots has been raided. 168 mall stalls are being investigated for smuggling and tax evasion.

This calls to mind a story that was told to me by a Chinese friend a couple of months back. This friend’s dad knows someone who’s friend was visiting the Philippines. This really happened to him. He was on vacation when he decided to check out 168 for the great shopping buys. True enough he was not disappointed. Among his purchases was great pair of jeans. Fortunately, he had the good sense to have the jeans washed before leaving the country, because his maid found a stash of cocaine stitched into the lining of the pants.

The stuff of urban legends? Or more reason for us shopaholics to avoid this bargain paradise. You decide. In the meantime, here are some fashion finds that’s sure to be light on the conscience. A little heavy on the pocket, but comes with some priceless benefits.

ukay-ukay is another shady shopping place. i heard that the clothes found in ukay are donations from other countries. It should go to clothing the poor, but instead they sell it off cheap for profit. any truth to this, you think? but still, love ukay. i don't know if that's going to stop me.

168 isn't closed as as i've heard. but better go there while it's still around. i recommend you eat at the chinese place in the foodcourt... good deals, big servings! perfect for when you tire yourself out from shopping

Sad little me hasn't been to any ukay place in her entire life :(

Thanks for the advice, Knox! I'll try to drag one of my friends to go with me soon! Preferably a guy who can be my bodyguard and will offer to carry my bags ;) Hahaha!
